New Blog, Same Rambles
I’ve always had a soft spot for blogging and reading blogs. How cool is it that you get to read people’s lived experiences and thoughts from all over the world? Super cool. My first subdomain was when I stumbled across a blog where the owner was also hosting off of their site, FOR FREE! I didn’t know anything about PHP or JavaScript. All I knew was HTML and CSS, but I quickly got my website up and running by scouring pages for HTML/CSS help. I would blog hop quite a bit because people moved, so it usually meant people disconnected or rebranded, disappearing into pixels. I would also lose steam maintaining a blog because I would be overzealous posting so much while also trying to keep personal information about myself under a tight lid. I eventually worked my way up to a job that could pay for hosting and I maintained it for a couple of years, but the prices kept rising for hosting and domain names. I prioritized my budgets elsewhere so the blog I wanted was put on the back burner. I had the free version of Wordpress for a bit, but I couldn’t stand not being able to freely edit the themes to my liking. I also shifted to Dreamwidth, but I developed that at a time with fandom at my forefront. Fast forward and we’re here! I like the minimal feel and I can post photos easily after subscribing. I hope to keep this up.
